Social media influencer Caryn Marjorie launched an AI chatbot, CarynAI, that replicates her voice, mannerisms, and personality. The chatbot was developed using GPT-4 API technology by OpenAI and offers an “immersive AI experience” to fans for $1 a minute. The product made more than $100,000 in its first week and has a waiting list of thousands.
However, some of the exchanges with CarynAI have become sexually explicit. Marjorie acknowledges this but states she doesn’t want that to become the service’s dominant feature. She also can’t say how many exchanges have become explicit as the service is end-to-end encrypted, meaning she has no access to the conversations unless a user chooses to share.
