Luma AI, backed by Andreessen Horowitz, has launched a new high-definition AI video generator called Dream Machine. The free-to-use tool can generate videos of up to 120 frames per second for as long as 120 seconds. The launch saw a massive influx of AI enthusiasts to the Luma AI website, resulting in multi-hour waits to access the service.
Dream Machine’s model has been well-received, with impressive examples of its capabilities being shared online. The tool allows users to generate videos based on text-based prompts, with some users comparing its performance to OpenAI’s Sora, a leading AI video generation tool.
The free tier of Dream Machine allows users to generate up to 30 video clips per month. However, higher-paid tiers offer up to 2,000 video generations per month at a cost of $499. Luma AI’s Dream Machine is the latest entrant in the competitive AI space, with other services like Google’s Lumiere, Runway, Pika, and Kling also vying for a share of the market.
