Apple has unveiled iOS 18 at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024. The new operating system introduces a host of changes, including a more customizable home screen, a revamped Control Center, and updates to first-party apps. However, not all devices will be able to support these features.
The minimum requirement for iOS 18 is an iPhone with an A12 Bionic chip or newer. The list of supported devices includes:
- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Plus, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Plus, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
- iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
- iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)
While all these devices will get iOS 18, not all of them will be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence AI features. For that, you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max with an A17 Pro chip or iPads and Macs with M1 chips and newer.
iOS 18 also brings significant redesigns to the iPhone control center, as well as updates to the Messages and Photo apps. With iOS 18, users can customize their phone to the highest degree, adjusting apps around the screen to frame their wallpaper, and adjusting the color and tint of their apps for a more cohesive look. The Messages app is getting an upgrade too, with redesigned tapbacks and the ability to react to a message with any emoji.
