Netflix’s adaptation of Cixin Liu’s “Remembrance of Earth’s Past,” known as the “3 Body Problem,” is set to be a three-season series. The streaming giant has officially announced that it will conclude the series after two more seasons, aligning with the trilogy format of the original books.
The showrunners, David Benioff, DB Weiss, and Alexander Woo, have confirmed this in Los Angeles. They expressed their excitement about being able to tell the complete story as they had intended. Weiss added that the second season would contain the “vast majority” of why they wanted to adapt Cixin Liu’s sci-fi novels in the first place. He further stated, “We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really, really thrilling to us that we will get to do just that.”
The team is already writing for season two, and it seems like it will be a bit of a wait. However, Benioff assured that they would have “enough time” to tell the story as they wished. Netflix’s scripted VP Peter Friedlander teased that the three will “tackle the rest of the mind-blowing journey through Death’s End.”
