Perplexity Pages Transform Searches into Shareable Pages

Perplexity AI has introduced a new feature that converts your searches into shareable pages. This feature, known as Perplexity Pages, aims to assist users in creating visually appealing reports, articles, or guides. Both free and paid users can access this feature in the library section. To initiate the page creation process, users simply need to enter a prompt, such as “Information about Sahara Desert.”

The tool then begins to create a detailed article with various sections based on the given prompt. Users can select an audience type – beginner, advanced, or anyone – to influence the tone of the generated text. The AI tool allows users to rewrite, reformat, or even remove any sections. Additionally, users can prompt the tool to write about a specific subtopic to add a new section.

Perplexity AI also assists users in finding and inserting relevant media items such as images and videos. All these pages are publishable and searchable through Google. Users can share the link to these pages with others, who can then ask follow-up questions on the topic. Moreover, users can convert their existing conversation threads into pages with just a click of a button.

Henry Modisett, Perplexity’s head of design, stated that the company wanted to utilize its core technology to use Perplexity as a research tool but in a more shareable format. He emphasized that while the AI engine starts answering the question and forming the page instantly, it takes the tool a couple of minutes to complete the page. Therefore, he found it challenging to design animations that make the waiting experience pleasant for users.

Perplexity views this tool as information curation rather than content generation through AI. Modisett explained that users curate the information, decide what the page is about, and how it is organized. He believes that there is a significant human aspect to it about making decisions and making it interesting. Thus, not all people can create a great page.
