Fisker Inc., once a promising electric vehicle startup, is now on the brink of bankruptcy. The company, led by famed vehicle designer Henrik Fisker and his wife Geeta Gupta Fisker, has delivered just a few thousand electric Ocean SUVs. The Ocean SUV, Fisker’s first and only model, has been plagued with mechanical and software problems, contributing to the company’s downfall.
The company’s troubles were not limited to the Ocean SUV. Employees reported a lack of basic processes and procedures, inadequate customer service, a non-functioning warranty system, and a shortage of spare parts. There were even instances of the company losing track of money it collected, at one point amounting to around $16 million.
Fisker and his team remained focused on protecting the company’s reputation. However, this focus on image over substance may have contributed to the company’s current predicament. Customers have reported issues with their vehicles, including dying cars, faulty brakes, and stuck doors, often having to wait weeks or months for fixes. The company has also been hit with numerous lemon law lawsuits.
As Fisker Inc. struggles to stay afloat, the company’s future remains uncertain.
