Researchers Crack Decade-Old RoboForm Password, Recover $3 Million Crypto Wallet

A cryptocurrency owner, known as “Michael,” who had lost access to his digital wallet containing 43.6 BTC (worth about $5,300 in 2013), has managed to recover his assets, now worth $3 million, thanks to a flaw in a decade-old version of the RoboForm password manager.

Michael, based in Europe, had generated a 20-character password using RoboForm and stored it in a file encrypted with a tool called TrueCrypt. However, the file got corrupted, and Michael lost access to his password. He had not stored the password in his manager, fearing a potential hack.
