Carlo Acutis, a 15-year-old programmer who passed away from leukemia in 2006, is on the path to becoming the first millennial saint. Known as “God’s Influencer”, Acutis used his programming skills to create websites documenting miracles and spreading his faith. His work continues to inspire people around the world even after his death.
The journey to sainthood in the Catholic Church requires recognition of at least two miracles attributed to the individual. Pope Francis recently acknowledged the second miracle attributed to Acutis. This miracle involved a 21-year-old girl from Costa Rica who suffered severe head trauma from a bicycle accident. Her mother prayed at Acutis’s tomb, and the girl began to recover miraculously, with her brain hemorrhage completely disappearing.
The first miracle attributed to Acutis happened in 2013 and involved a boy in Brazil who was reportedly healed of a rare pancreatic condition. These miracles have brought Acutis one step closer to sainthood, marking a historic moment for the Catholic Church.
