Embrace the Future with iSIMs: The Next Big Leap in Mobile Technology

The mobile industry is on the brink of a significant transformation with the advent of integrated SIMs, or iSIMs.

iSIMs are a new form of SIM technology that is integrated directly into the device’s processor. This eliminates the need for a separate SIM module, making it easier for users to switch between different network providers and data plans. This is particularly beneficial for frequent travelers who often have to juggle between different SIM cards to avoid hefty roaming charges.

The global number of iSIMs installed in connected devices is predicted to see a massive increase, jumping from 800,000 in 2024 to over 10 million by 2026. This growth is expected to be driven by the release of GSMA’s SGP.41/42 specifications by the end of 2025. These guidelines aim to standardize and streamline the rollout of iSIM-enabled devices.

One of the key features of iSIM technology is In-factory Profile Provisioning (IFPP). This allows network providers to preload iSIM profiles onto a device during production. As a result, devices can be shipped with pre-configured cellular connectivity to the desired network. This not only simplifies the setup process for the user but also ensures that the device is ready to use right out of the box.

However, it’s important to note that there is currently no industry-wide standard for iSIM technology. This means that manufacturers may be hesitant to launch a solution that may not comply with an official standard. To address this, eSIM vendors are encouraged to provide standard-agnostic platforms that are flexible to upcoming form factors, standards, and use-case demands.
