The disbandment of the team has raised questions about OpenAI’s commitment to safety and the long-term implications of AI. Leike, in a series of messages, criticized OpenAI’s leadership for prioritizing “shiny products” over safety culture and processes. He expressed concern that the company was not on a trajectory to address the significant challenges posed by advanced AI systems.
