Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, typically competitors in the streaming space, are joining forces to launch a unique bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and Max. This new streaming bundle is set to be available in the U.S. this summer. While there’s no specific launch date or pricing information available yet, the bundle will be offered in both ad-supported and ad-free plans.
The bundle will be available for purchase on any of the three streaming platforms’ websites. Despite the bundling, the apps and content from each company will remain separate. This move comes after Disney recently integrated Hulu content into Disney+ for customers who have both services.
The new bundle aims to offer “the best value in entertainment and an unprecedented selection of content from the biggest and most beloved brands in entertainment.” This includes content from ABC, CNN, DC, Discovery, Disney, Food Network, FX, HBO, HGTV, Hulu, Marvel, Pixar, Searchlight, Warner Bros., and many more.
In addition to this, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery, along with Fox Corp., are also planning to launch a streaming sports bundle, which is slated to debut this fall. As the pay-TV industry continues to decline due to the rise of streaming, these media companies are partnering up on streaming bundles in an attempt to reconstitute cable TV.
The benefit for consumers is typically a discounted price compared to paying for individual services separately. This new bundle with Max will offer subscribers even more choice and value, according to Joe Earley, president of direct to consumer at Disney Entertainment.
