Apple Falls to 5th Place in Chinese Smartphone Market as Huawei Reclaims Top Spot

Apple’s position in the Chinese smartphone market has slipped to fifth place in Q1 2024. Huawei has reclaimed the top spot with a 17% market share, shipping 11.7 million smartphones. OPPO and HONOR follow, shipping 10.9 and 10.6 million units respectively. Apple’s shipments fell to 10 million units, a 25% YoY decrease. Despite this, Apple continues to deepen its ties with China, with 17% of its net sales from Oct-Dec derived from the region. However, it faces an uphill battle to reverse falling iPhone sales, with a 24% YoY decline in 2023 projected to deepen through 2024.
