Maine University Unveils World’s Largest 3D Printer Capable of Creating Entire Neighborhoods

The University of Maine has unveiled the world’s largest 3D printer, capable of creating entire neighborhoods. The new machine is four times larger than the previous one, commissioned less than five years ago. The printer, dubbed the “Factory of the Future 1.0,” extrudes thermoplastic polymers and could potentially address homelessness in the region by providing affordable housing. The printer can create objects 96 feet long, 32 feet wide, and 18 feet high. The university plans to break ground on a new building this summer, hinting at the possibility of even larger printers in the future.
