Tesla Outperforms All Brands in Maintenance and Repair Costs

Tesla has emerged as the brand with the lowest maintenance and repair costs, according to a recent study by Consumer Reports. The study, which included data from thousands of car owners in the US, confirmed that Tesla’s costs are the lowest in the auto industry. This is particularly impressive considering Tesla’s status as a premium brand, which typically has higher maintenance and repair costs.

The report also highlighted that several German automakers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, were among the most expensive brands in terms of maintenance costs. Tesla’s approach to maintenance, which avoids expensive mandatory programs, appears to be a key factor in its low costs.

Anecdotal evidence from long-term Tesla owners further supports these findings, suggesting durability and lower lifetime costs as key benefits. For instance, one of the oldest Tesla vehicles, a Model S 2012, is just now undergoing its first significant repairs 12 years into its life. Similarly, a Model 3 2018 hasn’t needed any significant repair.
