ASML, a leading Dutch semiconductor equipment maker, has announced the appointment of Christophe Fouquet as its new CEO. Fouquet, who has been with ASML for 15 years, will take over from current CEO Peter Wennink in April 2024. The company’s Chief Technology Officer, Martin van den Brink, will also retire on the same date.
Fouquet’s appointment comes at a critical time for ASML, which is navigating the complexities of the global chip war. He has held various roles at ASML and other chip companies, including Applied Materials and KLA Corp. His deep understanding of ASML’s technology and the semiconductor industry ecosystem makes him well-suited for the role.
ASML’s Supervisory Board, together with the management team, has gone through a comprehensive succession planning process. They believe that with Fouquet’s leadership qualities and culture fit, he is the right person to lead ASML into the future.
