Elon Musk Postpones India Visit Citing Heavy Tesla Obligations

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has postponed his planned trip to India due to “very heavy” obligations at Tesla. He was expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and confirm that Tesla will build a factory in India. Despite the delay, Musk expressed his anticipation for the visit later this year.

Musk also planned to meet leaders of Indian space tech startups, including Pawan Chandana, co-founder of Skyroot Aerospace. Musk, who is also the boss of SpaceX and X (formerly Twitter), is currently the world’s fourth-richest man. He was expected to announce an investment of $2 billion to $3 billion in India, mainly for building the new Tesla factory.

His trip was originally scheduled just after the commencement of India’s largest democratic election, where an estimated 960 million people are eligible to vote. Prime Minister Modi is widely expected to win a rare third consecutive five-year term.
