This change was first noticed in the most recent Windows 10 update Release Preview, which includes new notifications added to the operating system intended to encourage users to make the switch.
While some users may appreciate the benefits of a Microsoft account, such as the ability to connect with Microsoft’s cloud features like backups, others may prefer the privacy of local accounts, where all their data stays on their personal devices. However, once you’ve made your choice, you shouldn’t be continually prompted to use your Microsoft account.
Here’s how to disable the Microsoft account notification:
- Open the Settings app.
- Click on Privacy.
- Go to the General section.
- Turn off the “Show me suggested content in the Settings app” toggle switch.
- Turn off the “Show me account-related notifications. When off, required notifications are still shown” toggle switch.
By following these steps, you should no longer receive prompts to switch to a Microsoft account.
