Microsoft is set to introduce new artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools for both Windows and its cloud service, Azure, at its annual Build conference in May. This move aligns with CEO Satya Nadella’s vision of embedding AI in every laptop by 2024.
The new AI tools will enhance user interaction with their digital lives on Windows. Developers will also be able to integrate these features into Windows apps. One of the key features to be launched is the Advanced Paste feature. Unlike traditional methods that require data to be sent to the cloud and receive responses, this feature will be based on AI models that run directly on PCs.
Microsoft has also introduced Surface PCs last month. These new Intel processor-powered PCs feature a Copilot button that allows users to quickly access the company’s chatbot. This is part of Microsoft’s strategy to improve user experience on Windows PCs.
At the Build conference, Microsoft plans to discuss how Windows apps will be able to unleash the potential of Arm-based neural processing engines, or NPUs, for AI features. The company will also announce new features for organizations that use Microsoft’s Azure AI Studio to build their own chatbots. These features will aim to lower the likelihood of these models generating statements about sex and violence or posing other security risks.
In addition to this, Microsoft is also working on making Azure easier to use. The company will discuss enhancements set to arrive for the Copilot chatbot, which is also accessible in Azure. Microsoft’s Copilot chatbot is currently available to select Azure clients in preview mode.
