Fairphone Introduces Repairable Fairbuds: Earbuds Designed to Last

Fairphone, a company known for its ethical approach to smartphones, has launched Fairbuds, a new product in the audio market. These earbuds are designed to last and are easily repairable.

Fairbuds allow users to easily replace seven spare parts: the earbud battery, silicone ring, earbud ear tips, charging case outer shell, charging case core, charging case battery, and the earbud itself. This means that even if the battery of the earbud or the case needs replacement, users can easily do it themselves.

Fairbuds are priced at €149 (~$162) in Europe and are available in Black and White colors. They come with 11mm titanium-coated drivers and three microphones per earbud. There is also Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) onboard, and they offer Bluetooth multipoint connectivity to connect to two devices simultaneously with Bluetooth 5.3.

These earbuds are IP54 rated for sweat resistance and claim to offer up to 5 hours of battery life on the earbud with ANC and a total of 26 hours of battery life with the case. Users can also configure an eight-band equalizer on the Fairbuds mobile app on Android and iOS.

In addition to their repairability, Fairbuds come with a three-year warranty, reflecting Fairphone’s confidence in the product’s durability. This launch marks a significant step towards sustainable and repairable consumer electronics.
