Xiaomi’s SU7 EV: Longer Range, Lower Costs

Xiaomi, the Chinese technology giant, has entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first car, the SU7. The SU7 is set to go on sale in China in early April. It offers a longer range at a lower cost, aiming to attract buyers in an already saturated Chinese EV market.

The SU7 comes in three models: the base model SU7, the SU7 Pro, and the SU7 Max. The base model will be sold for 215,900 Chinese yuan (~$29,903), nearly $9,000 cheaper than Tesla’s Model 3. The Pro and Max versions will be priced higher.

The base model claims a 434-mile range using a 73.6kWh battery, the Pro offers 516 miles of range with a 94.3kWh battery, and the Max provides 503 miles with twin motors and all-wheel-drive. These specifications, particularly the range and price, make the SU7 a strong contender in the EV market.

The SU7 will be integrated into Xiaomi’s ecosystem via Hyper OS, the company’s self-developed operating system for cars. Despite the competitive offerings, Xiaomi has stated that there are currently no plans to expand the SU7 to other markets.
