Artificial intelligence startup Inflection AI is planning a strategic pivot following the departure of most of its staff to Microsoft. The company’s CEO and co-founder, Mustafa Suleyman, along with Chief Scientist and co-founder Karén Simonyan, and a majority of the employees have moved to Microsoft.
Despite this, Inflection AI plans to license its technology to Microsoft and shift its focus towards working with business customers. The company, which has raised over $1.5 billion, assures its investors, including Microsoft, Nvidia Corp., Bill Gates, and co-founder Reid Hoffman, of a good outcome.
Inflection AI had previously launched a bot named Pi, but failed to find an effective business model. Now, the company plans to retain its proprietary technology as it transitions to an enterprise business model. The new CEO will be Sean White, a former board member and the chief research and development officer at Mozilla.
