Amazon Prime Videos’ Strategic Expansion in India Amid Global Cutbacks

Amazon is set to release over 70 new shows and films on its Indian streaming platforms in the coming years, aiming to attract new subscribers and compete with rivals like Netflix and a new giant formed by the merger of local media operations of Reliance Industries and Walt Disney. Despite global cutbacks, Amazon continues to invest heavily in India, a rapidly growing entertainment market with over 1.4 billion consumers. The company’s popular Hindi web series including Mirzapur, Paatal Lok, and Panchaayat will be returning, and it will also back titles in other Indian regional languages.
