Casago conducted a study to identify the world’s biggest tourist traps by searching for the phrase “tourist trap” in TripAdvisor reviews. The study revealed that four of the world’s ten biggest tourist traps are located in the US. Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco topped the list with 1,049 mentions of “tourist trap” in its reviews. The UK’s biggest tourist trap is Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, while Barcelona’s Las Ramblas street and Hawaii’s Dole Plantation also featured prominently. These tourist traps are known for their overpriced experiences, long queues, and large crowds.
