Top websites are increasingly blocking Google from using their data to train AI models. Google’s tool, Google-Extended, is being used by about 10% of the top 1,000 websites. Despite this, Google is not being blocked as much as OpenAI. The New York Times, CNN, BBC, Yelp, and Business Insider are among the websites that have enabled the Google-Extended blocker. However, OpenAI’s GPTBot is being blocked by around 32% of the top 1,000 websites. The reason for this difference in usage between Google-Extended and other AI training data-blockers is not clear.
