Undersea Cable Failures Disrupt Internet Across West and Central Africa

Several countries in West and Central Africa are experiencing internet outages due to undersea cable failures. The affected countries include Ivory Coast, Liberia, Benin, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. The cause of the cable failures is unclear. African subsea cable operator Seacom confirmed that its west African cable system services were down. Customers relying on this cable are being redirected to the Google Equiano cable. The South African telecoms operator Vodacom also reported connectivity issues due to the undersea cable failures. The extent of the disruption and the expected time for restoration are not yet known.
