Tesla Ordered to Pay $42M Over Employee-Involved Crash

Tesla has been ordered to pay $42 million in damages for a 2017 crash involving a company-owned Ford truck and a motorcyclist. The crash, which occurred near an interstate, resulted in the motorcyclist suffering a partial amputation and a traumatic brain injury. The truck was being driven by a Tesla employee, Kyle Kaszuba, who was allegedly in a rush to get to work. The jury found Tesla 70% liable for the crash, reducing the award from $60 million to $42 million. The victim’s attorneys had initially sought $191 million in damages.
