NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft has reestablished contact with mission control after a data transmission issue

NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft, the farthest human-made object from Earth, has been transmitting gibberish for months due to a glitch. However, on March 3, the team received a promising signal from the spacecraft’s flight data system (FDS). The signal, different from the unreadable data stream, contained a readout of the entire FDS memory. The team suspects the ongoing anomaly may be due to communication issues between FDS and the telemetry modulation unit (TMU). The new signal could help pinpoint the glitch source by comparing this memory readout with a previous one.
