Midjourney, an AI image generator, has banned image prompts that include the names of presidential hopeful Donald Trump and current president Joe Biden. This decision comes as experts warn about the potential misuse of AI technology to influence voters and spread misinformation ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Tests showed a “Banned Prompt Detected” warning for requests of images of “Trump and Biden shaking hands at the beach”. Midjourney CEO David Holz stated that the company doesn’t want to spend all its time policing political speech, hence the decision to put a foot down on it.
