Intel has released its latest flagship CPU, the Core i9-14900KS, which boasts a record-breaking boost speed of up to 6.2GHz, surpassing its predecessor’s 6GHz mark. Priced at $689, the processor is expected to be one of the final models compatible with the LGA 1700 socket as Intel transitions to a new socket type. The 14900KS features 24 cores, with eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores, and operates at a base power of 150 watts. It is essentially a higher-performing variant of the 14900K, selected for its ability to run at increased speeds. Intel claims up to 15% better gaming performance over the 13900KS and a 73% improvement in 3D production multitasking workflows compared to AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X. The processor is also available in OEM systems and requires Z790 and Z690 motherboards with the latest BIOS updates for compatibility.
