Android 15 is set to introduce the Powered Off Finder API, allowing compatible devices like the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series to be tracked even when switched off. The API enables devices to continue sending Bluetooth beacons after the Android system shuts down, making it possible to locate them when powered off or out of battery. However, for the feature to work effectively, the upgraded Find My Device network needs to be widely rolled out. Reports suggest the feature may be called “Pixel Power-off Finder” on Google Pixel phones. While Android 15 is expected to bring the necessary API, the Pixel 9 series would also require additional hardware to fully support this functionality.
