WhatsApp Enhances Privacy by Blocking Profile Picture Screenshots

WhatsApp has introduced a new privacy feature that prevents users from taking screenshots of contact profile pictures. This update, which is being rolled out server-side and is not tied to a specific app build, aims to combat impersonation and enhance user privacy. Although the app does not currently display a warning message when attempting to take a screenshot, the resulting image is blank. Users can still capture a lower-resolution version of the profile picture from the chat screen. This change is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to improve security and privacy, distinguishing it from other messaging services like Telegram and Signal, which do not offer this functionality. Users who wish to further protect their privacy can adjust their profile photo visibility settings within the app.
