Paul Alexander, the Longest-Surviving Iron Lung Patient, Passes Away

Paul Alexander, known as “Polio Paul”, who lived in an iron lung for 70 years after surviving polio in the 1950s, has passed away at the age of 78. Despite his condition, Alexander led a full life, becoming a lawyer and author. He was known for his resilience and determination, using a rod to turn pages and type on a keyboard. He even managed to spend hours outside the iron lung for years. However, since the start of the pandemic, he could not stay outside for more than five minutes. His story has been an inspiration to many, and he leaves behind a legacy of courage and perseverance.
