According to Robert Hallock from Intel, an AI PC needs a neural processing unit (NPU), a GPU, and the ability to handle Vector Neural Network Instructions (VNNI) and DP4a instructions. These elements are present in Intel’s current Meteor Lake CPUs. Intel does not plan to brand ‘AI PC’ as a separate platform like vPro or Centrino. The term ‘AI PC’ will denote a computer that can run certain tasks more efficiently, most of which don’t currently exist but will in the future. Intel believes that in four or five years, this will simply be what a PC is like.
