The law bans certain AI applications that infringe on citizens’ rights, including biometric categorisation systems, emotion recognition in workplaces and schools, social scoring, predictive policing based solely on profiling, and AI that manipulates human behaviour or exploits vulnerabilities. Exceptions are made for law enforcement under strict conditions. The law also sets clear requirements for high-risk AI and defines obligations for those deploying such applications.
