Epic Introduces $1,850 Annual Fee for Non-Game Unreal Engine Users

Epic Games has announced a new pricing model for non-game developers using its Unreal Engine. Starting with the release of Unreal Engine 5.4 in late April, companies creating linear content like TV shows, movies, and immersive experiences such as theme park rides will be charged an annual subscription of $1,850 per seat. This fee also grants access to Twinmotion and RealityCapture software. However, there are exemptions for companies with less than $1 million in annual gross revenue, students, educators, hobbyists, and plug-in developers. Game developers will continue to use it for free, with a 5% royalty on earnings over $1 million.
