Google Pixel sales increased by 527% in Japan in 2023

Google Pixel sales in Japan surged by 527% in 2023, making Japan the largest market for Google Pixel. This growth was driven by the sales of Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. In Q1 2023, Japan accounted for 34% of Google Pixel shipments, up from just 10% the previous year. The United States, which was the top region for Pixel, dropped from 51% to 31%. Despite this, Pixel sales in the US have not dropped; instead, more of the brand’s growth is happening in Japan. The mid-range device Pixel 7a contributed significantly to this growth, with a 74% jump in shipments over the Pixel 6a during their respective first three weeks. The Pixel 7a was particularly successful in Japan, where smaller screens are more popular and carriers tightly control the market. Google has now earned the second-place slot in Japan, surpassing local brands such as Sharp and Sony, and holds roughly 9% of the market.
