Tropic Haze, the creators of the Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu, have agreed to pay Nintendo USD $2.4 million in damages and shut down the emulator. This decision comes after Nintendo filed a lawsuit against the creators. The lawsuit claimed that Yuzu violated the DMCA’s prohibition on trafficking in devices that circumvent effective technological measures. The Yuzu creators have also agreed to delete all copies of Yuzu and hand over any physical circumvention tools and modified Nintendo hardware. They have also agreed to hand over the rights to yuzu-emu.org to Nintendo. The source code for Yuzu has been removed from Github, but it is likely still available from those who have already downloaded it.
