The Airlander 10, also known as “The Flying Bum”, is seeking approval for takeoff. This voluptuous vehicle, resembling the legendary Zeppelin, is touted as the world’s most efficient large aircraft. Powered by a combination of electricity and helium, the aircraft promises zero-emissions flights by 2030. The Airlander 10 can accommodate 100 seats or a 10-tonne payload. Its owner, Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV), has begun a process called Type Certification, which paves the way towards permission to fly. The company already has £1bn of reserved orders for the Airlander 10, with initial customers including Air Nostrum Group.
