Now Apple says it won’t disable iPhone web apps in the EU

The move, which Apple claims is due to the complexities of complying with the European Union’s new Digital Markets Act (DMA), has sparked an EC investigation. The DMA requires tech “gatekeepers” to allow third-party interoperability and prohibits them from favoring their own services. Apple’s decision has been criticized as an attack on the open web. The company is required to comply with the DMA by March 6, 2024.
