UnitedHealth Group, a U.S. health insurance giant, has confirmed a ransomware attack on its subsidiary, Change Healthcare. The cybercrime threat actor, ALPHV/Blackcat, is behind the attack, which continues to disrupt hospitals and pharmacies across the United States. Change Healthcare, a major processor of prescription medications, handles prescriptions and billing for over 67,000 pharmacies across the U.S. healthcare system. The cyberattack caused widespread outages at pharmacies and healthcare facilities. Despite the disruption, Change Healthcare is actively working to understand the impact on members, patients, and customers.
