It turns out that Odysseus landed on the Moon without any altimetry data

Odysseus, the lunar lander from Intuitive Machines, landed on the Moon without any altimetry data. The last accurate altitude reading was received when the lander was 15 kilometers above the lunar surface. The company had to rewrite its software to use three telescopes from a NASA payload for altimetry purposes after discovering that the range finders on Odysseus were inoperable. Despite the lander toppling over after touchdown, the mission is considered a success. The lander is currently operating on the Moon and returning valuable scientific data to Earth.
