Gboard is gaining the ability to copy text from the real world

Gboard has introduced a Scan Text feature, which allows users to copy text from the real world.
This feature is a simplified version of Google Lens’s optical character recognition (OCR) functionality.
To use it, tap the tools menu in Gboard, select Scan Text, and grant camera permission.
The camera viewfinder will appear on the bottom half of your screen.
Take a photo of the text, highlight the desired text, and tap “insert” to add it to your current text field.
This feature does not offer other Google Lens features like web searches or translation functionality.
It’s a convenient way to copy/paste real-world text without needing to add it to your clipboard first.
