Intel signs Microsoft as foundry customer, says on track to overtake TSMC

Intel has signed Microsoft as a foundry customer and is on track to overtake Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) in advanced chip manufacturing by 2025. Intel plans to retake the lead in chip manufacturing with its Intel 18A technology and extend that lead into 2026 with new technology called Intel 14A. Microsoft will use Intel’s 18A technology to make an undisclosed chip. Intel now expects $15 billion of foundry orders, up from the $10 billion it had earlier projected.
