Google’s Gemini, the new digital assistant on Android, is now capable of setting reminders. This feature is currently rolling out to users. When asked to set a reminder, Gemini uses the Google Assistant extension to add the reminder via Google Tasks. After setting a reminder, an Open Tasks button appears on the Gemini overlay, leading to an activity in the Google app that allows managing pending tasks. The notification for the reminder comes through the Google Tasks app if installed, or the Google Calendar app when due. This addition marks a significant step towards Gemini becoming a viable Google Assistant replacement on Android1.
