Masayoshi Son Seeks to Build a $100 Billion AI Chip Venture

Masayoshi Son, the founder of SoftBank Group Corp., is planning to establish a $100 billion AI chip venture to compete with Nvidia Corp. The venture, code-named Izanagi, aims to supply essential semiconductors for AI. Son plans to invest $30 billion, with the remaining $70 billion potentially sourced from Middle Eastern institutions. The project is part of Son’s vision to build an AI chip powerhouse that complements chip design unit Arm Holdings Plc. If successful, this will be one of the largest investments in the AI arena since the advent of ChatGPT.
